What’s Next for Indian Gaming?
Since the passage of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act in 1988, tribal gaming in the United States has exploded into a $23 billion a year business. This session will feature a lively panel discussion addressing hot issues such as Class II vs. Class III, ongoing attempts to amend the IGRA, "reservation shopping", tribal-state compacts, and state vs. tribal jurisdiction in the context of regulating tribal casinos.

Taxation Panel:
The Looming Battles
Taxation represents the greatest burden government can place on the casino industry. This examines the effects that taxation rates and governmental policies have had on industry growth (Nevada), and recovery prospects (Mississippi and Louisiana) and  the 2006 New Jersey experience of closing down governmental services to casinos to avert a short term budget crisis with a program of long run budget losses.

The primary driver in global interactive gambling is television. Broadcast standards and practices shape the direction and content of television programming and marketing. Television programming is subject to broadcast standards and practices of each network, but ultimately is the result of the networks’ interpretation of national regulatory efforts. For those who were on the front lines, the hurricane was just the beginning. Audubon Nature Institute President and CEO L. Ronald Forman, who oversees the world-famous New Orleans zoo and the Aquarium of the Americas, will provide a very special keynote address in the Entergy IMAX Theater, part of the Aquarium complex, adjacent to our headquarters hotel. We'll also be treated to a viewing of the new, critically acclaimed IMAX movie, "Hurricane on the Bayou."

Ronald Forman, who oversees the world-famous New Orleans zoo and the Aquarium of the Americas, and a special screening of the acclaimed IMAX movie, "Hurricane on the Bayou."

IMGL’s Winter Conference gala dinner event will be staged at the magnificent Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, adjacent to our headquarters hotel, on Thursday, Nov. 30. A cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. The cocktail reception will be held in the Aquarium’s Caribbean Exhibit, followed by dinner in the Gulf of Mexico Exhibit.
