YAP WAI MING
Yap Wai Ming was admitted to the Singapore bar in
1987 and
Malaysian
bar in 1993 after graduating with from the National University
of Singapore law faculty. He worked as a Trade Officer with Singapore
Trade Development Board (now International Enterprise Singapore)
between 1987-1988. He practiced with Drew & Napier, Singapore
as a litigation lawyer between 1988 and 1993 before branching
into the corporate area. He left the partnership of Drew & Napier
in 1993 to expand his legal practice in Malaysia and had worked
as a partner with a Malaysian law firm specializing in corporate
work since 1993. He joined the partnership of Tay & Partners,
a Malaysian law firm with offices in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru
since 2001. Wai Ming joined Stamford Law Corporation in 2002 and
continues to practice in both Malaysia and Singapore.
Wai Ming's concentrates on mergers and acquisitions,
equity and debt capital markets, gaming & leisure. He listed the
only two gaming stocks on the Singapore Exchange and has advised
on leisure and gaming transactions primarily in ASEAN countries,
China and Australia. He was also appointed as an independent director
on the board of Genting International plc (listed on SGX) and
Cryptologic Limited (listed on TSX, Nasdaq and LSE). Wai Ming
is ranked as one of the AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers for mergers and
acquisitions by Asia law & Practice, a Euromoney Institutional
Investor Company.
Wai Ming lectures frequently on corporate law topics
and is the author of the Malaysian chapter on "International Securities
Law" published by the Center for International Legal Studies,
Austria and "Civil Litigation" chapter for the Mergers and Acquisitions
in China, published by Thomson Sweet & Maxwell and also a contributor
to the Gaming Law Review.
