Mr. McBride is an experienced Indian Law and Gaming attorney
who has dedicated his career to the complex nature of federal
Indian law. As chair of the Indian Law and Gaming Practice Group,
McBride represents tribes and tribal entities, as well as entities
and
individuals
doing business with tribes.
Prior to joining Crowe & Dunlevy, McBride practiced with another
prestigious Tulsa firm where he established and chaired the firm's
Indian Law and Gaming group. McBride has practiced law since 1993
primarily in the areas of federal Indian law, representation of
Indian tribes as well as businesses in federal, state and tribal
civil and criminal litigation. Having tried approximately 50 cases
to conclusion McBride has served as counsel of record in the Supreme
Court of the United States twice for multiple Indian tribes.
McBride currently serves the Pawnee Nation as a Justice of the
Supreme Court and previously served the Kaw Nation as a Supreme
Court Justice and Special District Judge. He is Tenth Circuit
Vice President as well as Chair of the Federal Bar Association's
Indian Law Section, the largest Indian law organization in the
country. McBride is one of two Oklahoma General Members of the
International Masters of Gaming Law and is associate editor of
the Gaming Law Review.
McBride served as the Attorney General for the Seminole Nation
of Oklahoma, the Sac and Fox Nation and is past chair of the Oklahoma
Bar Association's Indian Law Section. He represents or has represented
fifteen tribes with jurisdictional interests in nine states as
General Counsel, Tribal Attorney or Special Counsel. McBride has
served as an expert witness in two federal and two state cases
regarding federal Indian law and gaming issues.
McBride is a regular speaker at conferences around the country
and has published over thirty articles on Indian law and gaming
issues in publications such as Indian Gaming, the Casino Lawyer,
the Native American Times, the Oklahoma Bar Journal, the Tulsa
Law Review, Oklahoma City University Law Review and numerous magazines
and newspapers. The American Inns of Court, the Federal Bar Association,
the American Indian Chamber of Commerce and the Tulsa County Bar
Association have honored McBride with awards for his leadership,
ethics and advocacy.
He has been recognized as a "Super Lawyer" in "Oklahoma Super
Lawyers" for Indian Gaming, Business and Political Law and has
been acknowledged by "Best Lawyers in America" for his Native
American Law practices. McBride is a graduate of Trinity University
(B.A. 1989) and the University of Oklahoma (J.D. 1993).
